Field Experience
ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EXPERIENCE
Below you will find my reflections on my two online field experiences. The first field experience was for Elementary students while the other was for Secondary students. I thoroughly enjoyed each experience and both have strengthened my skills as a future educator. I learned where I must improve and have grown immensely. Each experience had its own ups and downs, but each struggle has contributed to my development as an educator.
Elementary
For my Elementary Field Experience, I was tasked with reading a book with a student and guiding them through the material. I began the lesson by encouraging the student to make inferences about the book based on the cover, then continued to ask questions throughout the story. After, we reflected on what we read and the lessons that could be learned. There were some technical issues, but overall the experience was extremely positive.
Secondary
For my Secondary Field Experience, I was tasked with leading a lesson on whether or not there should be a meat tax. I had two students in my group and felt that I led the discussion well. We reviewed what they had learned the day before and went over resources for finding a reliable source. Then, they read several articles individually and watched a video. Finally, we had a group discussion and shared our thoughts. Other than some slight technical problems I had a wonderful experience.
